    Limpet  Saddle Pad Review

From England comes the Limpet Saddle Pad, by the Happy Horse Company. Made of an open cell composition that reduces lateral and forward movement of your horse, it allows your horse’s skin to breathe. The pad bonds and moulds, eliminating friction, and greatly encourages softening of the back. It is hygienic and non-toxic.

Endorsed by Mrs. Jennie Lorinston-Clarke and other international riders, the pad is available in a size and shape to suit your needs, from English to Western. Color choices are: black, brown, chestnut and white. Pricing for a dressage pad, to fit an 18” saddle, is £75.00 to £115.00, while the “Montana” pad, in a 30” x 30” size, retails for £125.00. Girth sleeves and cinch covers are available.

    The Limpet
Saddle Pad is like no other in your tack room. Made of material similar to what hospitals use to prevent bedsores, it performs best when allowed to warm-up along with the horse. Then, the adhesive effect reduces the chance of sore backs and allows healing where damage has occurred.

The pad performed exactly as advertised when placed on the back of the test horse. The horse, known for high sensitivity, rounded immediately and offered an easy, flowing flex throughout his spine. His shoulders loosened, and strides became increasingly longer.

Afterwards, the saddle, which normally moves with the horse’s uneven stride, sat perfectly square on his back, without benefit of straps to keep it in place. For more information on this incredible pad, go to the website at: www.limpetsaddlepad.com.
